Day 1

Welcome to the Adirondacks of New York
Arrive at Bradley International Airport to begin your fun-filled vacation adventure through the Adirondacks of New York! Experience the Adirondacks in autumn, where the mountains are ablaze with vibrant red, orange, and gold hues. Crisp air, mirror-like lakes, and scenic byways invite you to immerse yourself in this breathtaking seasonal display surrounded by nature's beauty. Board your motorcoach and transfer to the Lake George region of the Adirondacks. Arrive at the historic Queensbury Hotel for a lovely night's stay. Take time to freshen up before gathering for a welcome dinner!

Day 2

Lake George Touring, Lake George Cruise & High Falls Gorge
After breakfast, meet your local step-on guide for a historic Lake George area tour. Travel up Prospect Mountain Veterans Memorial Highway for spectacular 100-mile views from the summit. Visit Coopers Cave Overlook on the Hudson River, the fictional hiding place of Hawkeye and his companions from James Fenimore Cooper's The Last of the Mohicans. Later, return to Lake George and board the Lake George Steamboat Company for a scenic one-hour cruise around Lake George while enjoying magnificent foliage scenery! Midday, enjoy lunch on your own before we head north. This afternoon, experience High Falls Gorge's awe-inspiring, rugged beauty, a dramatic ravine cut into the mountainside by the Ausable River. Enjoy a gentle half-mile round-trip walk to view four splendid waterfalls cascading over rocks into a deep crevice carved a billion years ago. Arrive in the enchanting village of Lake Placid and arrive at the Grand Adirondack Hotel, centrally located in the heart of the Village. Upon arrival, receive a warm welcome, a festive welcome reception, and a private Meet & Greet with an Olympian! Take time to relax and freshen up before gathering for a welcome dinner. The balance of the evening is yours to explore the village nightlife.

Day 3

Veteran's Memorial Highway & Olympic Legacy Sites
This morning, after breakfast, meet your Local Step On Guide and travel the scenic Whiteface Memorial Highway to the top of Whiteface Mountain for spectacular views and a visit to the Summit Castle. This unique automotive experience takes us to the summit of a mountain, with gorgeous views spanning hundreds of miles of wild land, reaching as far as Vermont and Canada. Then, enjoy a guided tour of the Olympic Center. Walk through the Olympic Center, and you'll see hallways adorned with plaques and banners to highlight the achievements of past Olympians. In the Olympic Center and on its grounds are skating rinks, open to the public, where gold medals have been won - including the famous Herb Brooks Arena, where the "Miracle On Ice" game was played, and the speed skating Oval where many Olympic and other international speed skating competitions have been held. Next, our journey will take us to the Olympic Jumping Complex, a hub for ski jumping showcases, competitions, and athlete training within the Olympic setting. You'll ascend to the impressive 128-meter ski jump sky deck using the recently renovated scenic elevator, which boasts a glass exterior. This ride provides a breathtaking bird's-eye perspective of the Adirondack High Peaks. Upon reaching the summit, the sky deck treats you to a 360-degree panoramic vista of Lake Placid. Return to the hotel for free time to explore the village before gathering for another delicious dinner.

Day 4

Raquette Lake Lunch Cruise & The Adirondack Experience
After a hearty breakfast, meet your local Step On Guide and set out for your adventure to the enchanting Raquette Lake. As we traverse the Adirondack Mountains, you'll have the chance to soak in the splendid scenery. We'll embark on a scenic cruise aboard the WW Durant upon arrival at Raquette Lake. Enjoy breathtaking scenery, fascinating history, and delicious food that combine to create an experience you won't soon forget. Following the cruise, visit The Adirondack Experience Museum on Blue Mountain Lake. The newly renamed Adirondack Experience, The Museum on Blue Mountain Lake, is open for its 60th season, offering the most immersive and diverse visitor experience in its six decades. Perched on 121 sprawling acres overlooking stunning Blue Mountain Lake, the Adirondack Experience tells the compelling story of the region's past, present, and future. Explore their 24 galleries and historic buildings and meet boat builders and basket makers. Return to Lake Placid and enjoy the evening at leisure, dining at one of the many great restaurants along the main street.

Day 5

Saratoga Corinth & Hudson Railway & Saratoga Springs
This morning, after breakfast, depart Lake Placid and travel south to board the Saratoga Corinth & Hudson Railway for a scenic Autumn train ride through the Southern Adirondacks as the leaves change colors. While on board, enjoy a tasty, boxed lunch! Continue to Saratoga Springs and meet your Local Step-On Guide for a tour of the area, along with a visit to Old Friends at Cabin Creek, A wonderful farm for retired thoroughbred horses! Old Friends at Cabin Creek is Saratoga County's only thoroughbred retirement farm and one of the few that will take thoroughbred stallions. Later this afternoon, continue to Lenox, MA, and check into the Hilton Garden Inn for the evening. Take time to settle in before enjoying a finale dinner together.

Day 6

Flight home
Enjoy breakfast this morning before departing Lake Placid and returning to Bradley International Airport for your departure home, taking many wonderful memories of your Adirondack vacation home with you!

ACCOMMODATIONS: Queensbury Hotel, Glens Falls, NY (1 night); Grand Adirondacks Hotel, Lake Placid, NY (3 nights); Hilton Garden Inn Lenox, Pittsfield, MA (1 night).

 

TOUR INCLUSIONS: Professional tour director, roundtrip motorcoach transportation/airport/hotel/airport, roundtrip air, accommodations, luggage handling at hotels, admissions, and 11 meals, including 5 breakfasts, 2 lunches, and 4 dinners.

 

TRAVEL INSURANCE: Optional, but highly recommended.

 

ACTIVITY LEVEL 3 / HEAVY WALKING: Physical stamina required. Stair climbing, longer periods of walking and/or standing may be involved, along with higher elevations and longer days. Participants must be able to keep up with group.
