Day 1

Begin your Iowa Getaway with a day in Dubuque!

NATIONAL MISSISSIPPI RIVER MUSEUM & AQUARIUM: Twelve large aquariums, interactive exhibits, and a 3D theater offer visitors a chance to explore the history and wildlife of the Mississippi River.

CONVIVIUM URBAN FARMSTEAD: Enjoy an interactive and unique guided tour that showcases the urban farm and facility. You'll also learn about the farmstead's mission and community outreach efforts to incerase access to healthy food in Dubuque's north end.

HISTORIC PROGRESSIVE DINNER: Progress through three historic sites, enjoying entertainment, music, delicious food, and wonderful company along the way. During this guided experience, you will be mesmerized as costumed docents and local historians share facts about what made 19th-century Dubuque so distinctive and why it was, and continues to be, the Masterpiece of the Mississippi.

Day 2

FIELD OF DREAMS MOVIE SITE: Experience the magic of this famous movie site as a Ghost Player gives the history of how Universal Studios found this location, who the Ghost Players are, and how being a part of this filming experience brought them baseball adventures around the world!

FIELD OF DREAMS FARMHOUSE TOUR: Immerse yourself in a different era with a guided tour of the inside of the Kinsella family household. Hear stories about the home from its early days as the Lansing family homestead in the early 20th century to its rebirth as the set for the Kinsella family in the 1989 classic.

IF YOU BUILD IT EXHIBIT: Explore an exhibit dedicated to the making of America's Slice of Heaven. See how the magic continues after Hollywood left a small town living the dream.

Day 3

AMANA COLONIES: Step into a world of authentic German ambiance and experience the unique culture that has flourished in the US during a communal era for over 90 years. A local step-on guide shares the history and culture of the Amana Colonies by visiting the 4 unique sites of the Amana Heritage Society. After, shop the eclectic stores of the Amana Colonies, offering items that are both locally made and from far off places.

Day 4

GALENA SHOPPING: Visit the unique boutiques and shops along Galena’s Main Streets, a Van Galder favorite stop!

GALENA HISTORY MUSEUM: Explore Galena’s history and meet the spirit of Ulysses Grant in a hologram that welcomes you to the museum where true national treasures live.
